♡ Week 3 Card ♡
Welcome to my week 3 project for Pootler's Design Team.
For the month of April, each week I will be making a project using the same stamp set each week. My stamp set for the Design Team for the month of April, is Falling Flowers from Stampin' Up. Please make sure to look at my previous two weeks of posts to see just the versatility of this stamp set :)
I am definitely enjoying finding new card folds at the minute and I am really enjoying making each design work for me.
Today's card is this beautiful card which could quite easily just be placed onto a table and used as a decorative piece. This card style is very pretty to look at and can be adapted very easily for photos etc. I love it and will definitely be trying the photo idea out :)
This card does take more work that a normal one fold card but the finished look you get and the reaction you will get will more than cover the time you took on this project :)
You will need a piece of Very Vanilla card stock which measures 11 3/4 x 6 inches (29.7 x 15 cms)
Score this piece of card stock at -
1 3/4, 3 1/2, 8 1/4 and 10 inches ( 4 1/2, 9, 21 and 25 1/2 cms)
You will also need to cut pieces of Whisper White card stock in the following measurements - (These are your panel pieces)
2 pieces @ 1 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches (4 x 12 cms)
2 pieces @ 1 1/2 x 5 3/4 inches (4 x 14 1/2 cms)
1 piece @ 4 1/2 x 5 3/4 inches (11 1/2 x 14 1/2 cms)
With your card base, at each side. Measure from the bottom up, 4 inches (10 1/2 cms)
Draw a line from this point to the top corner of your centre piece.
Cut away this triangle. You will have something that looks like this.
Do this to both sides of the card base.
You will also need to do this cut on your panel pieces of card stock.
With the pieces that measure 1 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches (4 x 12 cms), mark at 3 3/4 inches (9 1/2 cms) up.
With the pieces that measure 1 1/2 x 5 3/4 inches (4 x 14 1/2 cms), mark at 4 3/4 inches (12 cms) up.
On a scrap piece of paper, place your panel pieces down. Make sure your two sets of side pieces are next to each other. This is because we will be stamping a pattern across the two pieces.
From the Falling Flowers stamp set, stamp the biggest stem stamp across the two sets of smaller panel pieces with Versamark.
Also stamp the same stem in opposite corners of your centre panel piece. (I chose top right corner and bottom left)
Sprinkle over White Embossing Powder everywhere that you have stamped and use your Heat Tool to do the magic of changing the embossing powder from dust to liquid :)
Let this dry.
Now time for some inking!!
Using a Pink Pirouette ink pad. Ink all over the four side panel pieces and the corners of the centre panel piece.
You will see that where you have used the embossing powder, the ink will not cling and so you will have this pink hue of colour showing off the white pattern on your card. Beautiful!
On the centre panel piece, stamp two of the smaller flowers from stamp set using the Pink Pirouette ink pad.
You can now attach your panel pieces onto the card base. I personally used tear and tape for all four side panels but dimensionals for the centre panel.
To finish this card off. Stamp out four butterflies using a Sweet Sugarplum ink pad and use the Elegant Butterfly punch to cut the butterflies out.
Attach these butterflies onto the card with tear and tape.
The sentiment that has been used is from the stamp set Beautiful You. It has been stamped with a Sweet Sugarplum ink pad.
Voila!!! Your card is complete!
Like I said at the beginning, yes it is a more time consuming card but I think the end effect is worth so much more and I am sure who ever you choose to gift this card too would very much agree :)
